Dr Mona Kaushik

Dr.Mona Kaushik is an author, linguist, and academic living in Bulgaria for the past 30 years. Her interests and expertise lie in the fields of languages, culture, translations, folklore, and mythology of India and Bulgaria. She has translated several Bulgarian texts and collections of poems of notable authors such as Yordan Yovkov. Her book ‘Maya Badal ki Chaya“ explores delicate folklore traditions of India using a compilation of Hindi idioms translated into Bulgarian. Dr. Kaushik is also the editor of the first Sanskrit- Bulgarian dictionary, authored by her father Dr.Ram Krishan Kaushik. Her recent works include the publication of the  Hanuman Chalisa in Bulgarian. She has also acted as a consultant to several Indian and Bulgarian documentary film projects. 
 
Dr. Kaushik is currently teaching at Indology Department, Sofia University. Religion Through DancesIndian Culture and rituals festivals and Parsi Community In India are few of the courses curated by Dr. Kaushik. She has been invited to present her lecture on Teaching of Hindi as a foreign language’ at Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Central University of Jammu,CCU, Meerut , and many others in the past. She is also the founder of DEVAM, the Indo-Bulgarian Society for Arts and Culture which has been actively involved in building the cultural bridge between Indian and Bulgaria for the past two decades. Dr. Kausik has been awarded by Aksharam International Hindi Conference, Azad Bhavan, ICCR, Delhi 2010, and was appointed as the liaison officer to the First Lady of India, Mrs. Savita Kovind. Dr. Kaushik was also the master of ceremony at the Indian Diaspora Meeting with President of India, Mr. Ram Nath Kovind held during his visit to Bulgaria in September 2018.
